      • PRESIDENTS' DAY - NO SCHOOL FEB. 17 & 20
        pres No School Monday, Feb, 20, in honor of Presidents' Day. Students will also be out of school on Friday, Feb. 17, due to a teacher's institute. Enjoy the long weekend!

      • FREE MOVIE - SCREENAGERS
        Unit 5 schools and the Town of Normal will be having a FREE showing of Screenagers, Growing up in the Digital Age. The movie shares insights and solutions emerge on how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world. The movie is at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26, at Normal Theater. Doors open at 12:30 pm.         KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

        Kindergarten registration is Tuesday, March 14. To see a list of registration times, CLICK HERE. Children reaching the age of 5 on or before September 1, 2017, will be eligible for enrollment in kindergarten. Parents should bring a certified birth certificate, current immunization and health records and proof of residency. Students entering kindergarten must turn in a current physical, vision, dental exam and immunization records.     • stop My Stop is a web-based application available to all Unit 5 parents to access live bus GPS information using a smartphone, tablet or computer and securely view the current location of their child’s bus on routes. The system also provides the school bus’s estimated time of arrival at your child’s bus stop. For directions, CLICK HERE. 


      STANDARDS-BASED GRADING

       
  • reportcard Unit 5 has begun the process of transitioning to Standards Based Grading in the elementary grades.  Teachers and administrators have been engaged in study and research around Standards Based Grading and many teachers have begun to shift their assessment practices to align to this type of grading and reporting.  In the 2016-2017 school year, teachers will begin to report some grades in the Standards Based Grading format, and we will have full implementation in 2017-2018. Please remember that students may be dropped off between 8:25 a.m. and 8:40 a.m.. Students may not come to school before 8:25 a.m. unless they are in the before/after school program or the breakfast program (breakfast starts at 8:20 a.m.) We do not have teachers on duty before 8:25 a.m
